BITCO Insurance Companies, formerly known as Bituminous Insurance Company, is a nationally recognized insurance provider for the construction industry. Studio 483 designed the new 43,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for the organization. The building is a single-story, steel frame primarily clad in a colorful fiber cement rainscreen and glass and is located on a seven-acre site immediately contiguous to the Interstate 74 corridor overlooking a one-acre water feature. The south face of the structure oriented toward the water is 80% glass, which floods the interior with daylight and provides pleasant views of the surrounding environment.
The office headquarters features both fixed and open office concepts and incorporates highly interactive work spaces, maximum natural light, and the latest technology in building systems. Other features of the facility include private offices, meeting/conference rooms, employee service area, and outdoor plaza overlooking the water feature.
