The College of Business was located in Ambrose Hall for over 50 years and was in need of more space and its own identity. Previous Master Plans identified both new and remodeled building options, but none were the right fit for the use or location. McMullen Hall was originally built as the campus Library then later remodeled into a classroom/faculty office building, and was in need of a refresh. Design Studies showed that a carefully designed expansion of the building, combined with a remodel of the existing building spaces, would provide a good home for the College of Business. The expansion and remodel respected the architecture of the original and created new Technologically Advanced Classrooms, Student Commons spaces, and Faculty Offices for their 7 departments. According to St. Ambrose, “A major focus of the project has been the integration of old and new, reflecting the University’s agility while holding tight to our history and mission.”
