Located four blocks from downtown, the eight-acre Centennial Park is easily accessible by foot, bicycle, or vehicle. The Centennial Pavilion serves as the restroom/concession venue for the existing and adjacent skatepark, as well as future walking paths and basketball courts. The park is adjacent to US Highway 67, a main artery running north/south along the river. A considerable amount of public participation took place as the city conducted workshops to solicit public input. The pavilion is a seasonal facility, so translucent material was used to allow diffused sunlight into the building in lieu of using artificial lighting. Perimeter walls are poured-in-place concrete. Outdoor seating areas are permeable pavers.
