The new police station is comprised of a 44,000-square-foot building and a 12,000-square-foot renovation of a warehouse to house a variety of typical programmed spaces along with a friendly public lobby and community room. The project began with a facility needs assessment study to determine building space and parking needs, project budget, and recommended site location. A steering committee was formed to work collaboratively with the consultant team to achieve broad community support and a successful outcome for the study. An upgrade and expansion of the existing facility was carefully considered but it was determined that the building and site did not have sufficient space for an addition large enough to meet the space needs for years to come.
